Photovoltaic Aerial Inspections by HELIOS XC Services is new cutting edge inspections technology!
What a thermal drone does for you and your solar energy investment
A thermal drone, equipped with a thermal imaging camera, looks for areas of excessive heat, or “hotspots”, on solar panels. These hotspots can indicate defects or inefficiencies in the solar energy system’s ability to produce maximum kW power output. Without seeing these critical issues it could substantially decrease the systems design energy output capability.
Ultimately costing you time and money in an energy system shutdown, expensive equipment hardware replacement costs not covered under warranty if just let go.
Other issues that a thermal drone can detect include:
Faulty panel modules
String outages
Module surface delimitation
Cracks
Shadowing
Soiling levels
Inverter anomalies
Vegetation growth issues
Combiner line anomalies.
We focus on the day-to-day and scheduled maintenance of solar panels, ensuring they are consistently clean and operating at peak efficiency.
We commit to provide expert guidance on optimizing the overall solar plant, offering insights into layout, technology upgrades, and best practices for long-term efficiency.
We offer the broader environmental impact of solar energy production and cleaning practices, emphasizing sustainability and eco-friendly approaches.
The drone’s thermal camera scans the solar panels and collects temperature data. This data is then analyzed by our licensed expert electrician to identify which areas of the panels are problematic. The issue’s source can then be ascertained from this data, and quickly ID’d for replacement repair suggestions and for warranty fixes can then be made.
Performing a drone inspection of a solar system when it’s being commissioned is also advised and when turning the system on for the first time. This allows you to urgently address any unseen problems that do immediately arise.
Inspections range from $800 to $2,000 dollars and up depending on how large the system is.
